David Cameron is to meet Vladimir Putin to discuss the crisis in Ukraine for the first time since Russia annexed Crimea.

The Prime Minister will hold talks with the Russian president after the two leaders attend commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy on Friday.

The two men have had a series of the telephone conversations since the crisis started but have yet to hold a face to face meeting.

No 10 denied that the talks would amount to Mr Cameron attempting to ease tensions with the Russian president after Prince Charles comments inflamed tensions between the UK and Russia.
